Technical Trainer

Reports to President and Chief Executive Officer. Provides creation and development of training materials and instruction to internal employees and external clients. Develop and deliver training based on company’s technologies and product offerings. Development includes training content includes course content for instructor led training and virtual instructor-led training.

Additional Tactical and Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, refine, maintain and deliver technical training with hands-on lab instruction to end-users of various levels of expertise.
  • Ensure the delivery of world-class internal training and external client training courses as defined by projects and assignments.
  • Apply innovative ideas and best practices to consistently improve the quality of training offerings.
  • Effectively prioritize and target material for each audience. Ability to impart clarity and preciseness and make complicated concepts seem simple.
  • Create training materials in a variety of formats that meet/exceed quality standards.
  • Partner with departmental teams to learn the latest product offerings and drive development of training for each technology and product offering.
  • Develop training focused on company’s latest technologies and products and present at internal and external conferences.
  • Work with management and other team members to scope training requirements, objectives and resources.
  • Responsible for development and maintenance of the elearning site which includes: software support, course development and maintenance, establishing a link from all applications to the elearning site; ability to create interactive tutorials.
  • Evaluate customer feedback and metrics in order to identify potential areas of improvement.
  • Plan and schedule technical training programs for internal staff to update their knowledge of current and new industry technologies.
  • Plan and schedule technical training programs for internal staff to maintain current or acquire new certifications including: MCSA, MCSE, MCDBA, MOS.
  • Complete other assignments and strategic projects in support of department efforts as assigned.
  • Set-up and maintain training room environment and workstations.
  • Other responsibilities and key result areas as required.

Qualifications
  • Exemplary written and verbal communication skills. Must communicate effectively and professionally and cultivate strong working relationships with teams and external clients. Must be comfortable presenting to executive and technical audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills required.
  • Ability to quickly learn complex subject matter with the skill to present the material to a live audience.
  • Solid information design skills with a keen sense for effectively prioritizing and targeting material for each audience. Ability to streamline and filter ambiguous language into its basic elements to impart clarity and preciseness and make complicated concepts seem simple.
  • Proficient in technical writing and curriculum development tools including Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Solid understanding of Web-based applications, related databases, object-oriented programming, technical methodology.
  • Excellent customer service, analytical and organizational skills required.
  • Ability to hit deadlines and overcome obstacles to obtain results.
  • Ability and initiative to undertake individual projects, as well as, work in a team environment.
  • Excellent time-management and prioritization skills.
  • Must thrive in fast-paced, start-up environment.
Education and/or Experience
BS and/or MS in Computer Science or equivalent preferred. Minimum 5 years of experience in course development, instructor led training development and delivery in a technical environment and application end-users. Proven track record in creating instructor led courses. Demonstrated ability to address users of various levels of experience. Familiarity with software technologies, languages and protocols, data interfaces, web-based dynamic data presentation, distributed server application architecture, web-servers, databases and web technologies like HTML. Development and delivery experience in a technical hardware and/or software environment (ex: database applications and solutions, storage, routers and networking platforms). Solid working knowledge and dissemination of information and its application to adult learning.

Computer Skills
Strong knowledge of advanced telecommunications and computer network procedures. Strong knowledge of computer LAN systems and telecommunications systems. Strong knowledge of PC's, servers, routers and various software applications.
